Uptown Girl's Divorce

Things are getting ugly for Christie Brinkley, the 54-year-old model and former Mrs. Billy Joel. She and her estranged husband, Peter Cook, entered a court house in New York yesterday to begin what will undoubtedly be a brutal divorce trial. Since the couple had a prenuptial agreement, they're primarily arguing over custody of their daughter Sailor Lee, 10, as well as Christie's son Jack from a previous marriage (whom Peter adopted). Yesterday marked the first day of testimony ... as well as Sailor's 10th birthday. Cuz therapists in the future are gonna need cash, too.

Among the claims being leveled at Peter include allegations that he spent a $3,600 a month on adult websites, paid off his teenage mistress with $300,000, and once pushed Christie's oldest daughter Alexa Ray Joel's head into a bucket for causing a leak in the kitchen ceiling. Also, there are some past felony drug charges. (Sigh ... )

Peter reportedly cried on the stand during his testimony. (A risky opening gambit in any custody hearing ... )

Peter's ex-girlfriend Carri Lyn Ciamarra has been subpoenaed by the Brinkley camp, but her attorney has filed a motion to have the subpoena lifted. Both her and Cook's attorneys have taken swipes at Christie, saying that a public spectacle of divorce proceedings is not in the best interest of her children.
